Welcome to Arum Apolyptica MV (ArumA), a post apocalyptic unified setting for RPG Maker MV games!
The purpose of this setting is to complete a huge map pack that anyone can use for near modern apocalypse games. Eventually ArumA will become a complete world with wastelands, suburbs, and other exotic locations. For now, let us focus on completing one portion of this world: The City. Of course, you can choose to use these maps for other modern themed games such as a modern drama, love sim, military, mystery, superhero, GTA-like, or even a Pokemon-like game if that's your thing. That’s totally fine. But the MAIN theme is the following:
The world has been ended by nuclear war/virus/aliens/robots/zombies/some cosmic elder being etc. The remnants of humanity struggle to survive in a City crawling with horrors.

Why a unified setting?
- Making maps take TIME and MONEY. Wouldn’t it be great if we can all pitch in to create a huge setting that everyone can use?
- Writers! Let's be honest. Some of us know that we just suck when it comes to making maps. But we’ve got awesome stories and game ideas! Let the genius mappers create the settings for you, allowing you to focus on your talents.
- Mappers! Think of this as an advertising platform for your maps. One, you can charge your maps for commercial use. Two, it's a good place to show off your skills to attract potential clients to your map shop. Lastly, if nothing else, you'll get the satisfaction that lots of people are using your maps.
- Tile and character set artists! It is obvious that just the RTP resources alone is insufficient to create a truly realistic and monstrous city. You're more than welcome to add your resources to the project! If this project can inspire you to create more modern/sci-fi tilesets, even better!
- Currently there's less resources for sci-fi/modern settings. Hopefully this project will become a major resource.
- The cool thing about mapping a city is there’s lots of opportunities to do “maps within maps.” You can choose to work on just a single apartment building, a shopping mall, or a museum, making them super, super detailed. Or if you are more of a city planner guy/gal, you can work on the streets. If the underworld is more your thing, you can choose to create the subways and subterranean tunnels beneath, complete with dens for horrors unknown.
The Current (Very Rough) World Map
This is the current world map. As the map gets filled, we will replace completed squares with thumbnails of that particular area.
- Each square (e.g. A2) represents a 50x50 tiled area. If mapping such a big area is too daunting for you. You may choose to map a smaller version at 25x25 which will take up only 1/4 of an area. The other quadrants of that map may be filled by others or you at a later date. Interiors maps have no size requirements.
- In order to have some semblance of city planning, please follow the general map below. i.e. if you want to make a ghetto area, choose a square south of E and east of 12. The titles should be pretty self explanatory, except "Little Kowloon". Think of this place as a fusion of Chinatown, Little Korea, and all other Asian themed areas in western society. (And yes, the name's inspired by Saga Frontier.) Maybe in the future we can do a totally Asian or other cultured themed city, but for now let's make this a generally western city.
- BUT see all those white squares? You're FREE to do whatever you want there! Go wild! As long as it stays within a city theme.
- Your square MUST have a logical relationship to the other squares around you. You may have to make adjustments. If there is a conflict contact the other author and discuss. Be courteous, we're all in this together.
- You can pick any square you like. If there is a conflict, whoever submits first as determined by the email date stamp gets priority. Of course, the parties can always negotiate for space if it comes to that.
